Changes in the moisture contribution over global arid regions

چکیده

Abstract Arid regions have deficient precipitation, understanding the sources and transportation of moisture for precipitation are crucial. This study examined major contributions global six arid regions, which classified as inland region (China-Mongolia) coastal (North Africa, West Asia, United States, South Africa Australia). Results indicated that, in originates mostly from ocean, is influenced by general circulation, particularly sinking branch Hadley cell. For (China–Mongolia), surrounding mountains supply more than 150 mm wet months due to ablation glacial snow melting. In contributed advection large-scale while contribution local recycling secondary. The available dry depends on circulation. Moisture 10 times that months, differ greatly months. both external transported into has significantly decreasing trend during period 1990–2019. ratio greater globe. decreased suggest a potential drying trend.

The Landscape as a Unit for Rangeland Inventory in Arid and Semi-arid Regions of Iran

Severe range degradation was critically extended in many region of Iran and caused many rangelands were restricted and interwoven with croplands in a complex system. Therefore, rangeland planning and inventory as an isolated activity has become almost impossible. Current landscape planning involves contributions of different social organizations often with different interests and with different...

Investigating the interaction between rivers and sand dunes in arid and semi-arid regions of Iran

Extended abstract 1- Introduction Fluvial and aeolian processes are important factors in changing the surface of morphology in the Earth. When rivers and sand dunes meet, the transportation of sediment  between them can lead to one of the systems or both  of them change. With their connection between river sediment and wind systems there would be lots of reactions, but very little has been st...

Water from air: an overlooked source of moisture in arid and semiarid regions

Water drives the functioning of Earth's arid and semiarid lands. Drylands can obtain water from sources other than precipitation, yet little is known about how non-rainfall water inputs influence dryland communities and their activity. In particular, water vapor adsorption--movement of atmospheric water vapor into soil when soil air is drier than the overlying air--likely occurs often in drylan...
